
Sassy Wheeler is a clinical supervisor of student teaching in the Department of Educational Theory, Policy, Practice, and Procedure at Louisiana State University. She received her Ph. D. and her Masters in Special Education from the University of New Orleans. She graduated Cum Laude from Southern University and A&M college with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. In addition, she is a former Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors.

Benjamin Blanchard is the Chartering and Operations Manager at Van Weelde Chartering USA, L.L.C., in New Orleans. He received his Bachelors of Science in International Trade and Finance at the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. In addition, he is a former Member at-Large of the Board of Directors.

Avione Pichon is an Associate at Jones Walker Waechter Poitevent Carrere & Denegre, LLP. She is a Juris Doctor graduate of Tulane University Law School, has a Masters in Science in Elementary Education from Saint Joseph’s University, and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Howard University. She is also a fo rmer Teach for America Summer Corps Advisor and TFA corps member from 2003-2005. In addition, she is also a former Member at-Large on the Board of Directors.

Kathryn Broussard is a Senior Vice-President & Senior Banker in the New Orleans Middle Market Banking Division of JP Morgan Chase Bank. She has 28 years of banking experience in the Greater New Orleans region and manages a commercial portfolio of loans and deposits for operating businesses defined as" Middle Market" - businesses with annual revenues between $10 and $750 million. She received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge.

Jack Carey is the national Director of Recruitment and Selection for the KIPP Foundation, the network of high performing schools serving low-income students. Prior to joining the KIPP Foundation, Jack worked as a staff member at Teach For All and at Teach For America, and he originally became committed to educational equality as a Teach For America corps member in the South Bronx. He received his Bachelor of Science in both Environmental Studies and Political Science from the University of Minnesota.

Lee Adler is a partner in the business group at the New Orleans office of Phelps and Dunbar LLP. He has an extensive transactional-based practice representing clients in a wide variety of fields. He has been heavily involved in the New Orleans community as he has served on various boards including STAIR (Start the Adventure in Reading), President (2006-2008); Summerbridge, a Breakthrough Collaborative Educational Program, Chair - Board of Advisors; Isidore Newman School, Former Board of Governors; Newman Alumni Association, Former President; New Orleans Vanderbilt Club, Former President; Young Leadership Council's Recreate New Orleans.

Anderson Baker is President of Gillis, Ellis & Baker, Inc. This New Orleans-based insurance agency, founded in 1933, employs approximately 35 people and produces nearly $70,000,000 in insurance premiums, annually. Mr. Baker is a 1982 graduate of Tulane University with a B.S. in Management, and he the professional designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM). He is on the board of directors for Fidelity Homestead Bank and is serving and has served on numerous professional and civic organizations.

Nia Davis is an independent researcher and evaluation consultant for various non-profit organizations in New Orleans. She is also currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of New Orleans in the Urban Studies program. She received her Ed. M. at the University of New Orleans in Health Promotion and her Bachelors of Arts in General Studies at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. She is a former Secretary of the Board of Directors.

Avery Corenswet is the Vice-President of Clinical Community Outreach at Ochsner Health System where she is responsible for identification, development, and implementation of community partnerships for clinical services between Ochsner. A native of New Orleans, she received her Bachelors of Arts from Newcomb College of Tulane University, her Bachelors of Science Nursing from Loyola University-New Orleans, and her Masters in Health Administration from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is a former Chair of the Board of Directors.

Sean Singleton is a Banker Associate in J.P. Morgan’s Private Wealth Management organization and comes to New Orleans after spending two years in the Chicago office of the firm’s Investment Bank. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from the United States Air Force Academy and a Masters of Business Administration with a dual focus in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
